12 Quick Tips To Improving Your Motivation
Do you have a mission to accomplish? Have you set your goals but you’re not sure if you’ve got the staying power to make it to the end? Use these motivation tips to boost your progress.
Decide exactly what you want to do. Consider all facets of it and describe it to yourself in the greatest detail possible.
Give yourself a reasonable deadline, based on your estimation of the actual time involved, allowing for delays on the part of others, if any. Your deadline should be based on realistic factors and not solely on need or want.
Break your project down into manageable pieces, also with deadlines or milestones that fall within your major deadline. Suit the milestone to the task – for example, if you are giving up an addiction, the first milestone could be the first hour. If you are learning a sport, the first milestone could be the first lesson.
Find someone or something to report your progress to – for example, a person, a journal, a club, a counselor, a coach, etc.
Every night, write out brief notes on your progress and write out objectives for the next day. In the morning, double-check your plans from the night before and carry them out.
Buy or make signs of motivation tips and post them on your mirror, over your computer screen, near the coffee pot – anywhere that you will run into them often.
Tell a few friends what you are doing. The inevitable question, “How’s it going?” will keep you moving.
When you reach a milestone under the deadline, reward yourself. Exercise your bragging rights when you run into friends. Along with the signs of motivation tips that you already have all over your home, add new signs that state your success to date.
Be careful to take good care of yourself so that you will operate at maximum capacity – get enough sleep, exercise, eat properly, and last but not least – relax, find time to play.
Eliminate negativity from your thinking. Learn to catch a negative thought and replace it immediately with a positive thought. Make a list of positive phrases for this purpose.
Does your goal scare you a little? Good! That means you’re moving outside the box. Keep going, you’re growing. Use motivation tips to help you move past your fear.
Visualize yourself having accomplished your objective. Bring all five senses to bear on this image. Make it as real as possible. Bring strong emotion to the image – feel how great it will be. Keep this image to the forefront of your mind as you go about your day.
You may want to keep these motivation tips in a handy place. It’s only natural to have ups and downs in your day. Human beings are affected by cycles of their own body and of the weather, by good news and bad news, by major and minor interruptions. Don’t be dismayed. Never give up. Just keep returning to your goals. Keep yourself motivated and you will succeed.
