GTS Kids
That's right! Getting To Someday just for kids! This area is still in it's infant stage, but will soon be all grown up and ready for viewing.
If you have any ideas or suggestions on this area, we would enjoy hearing them. Please email info@gettingtosomeday.com to tell us your thoughts!
If you have a child who is eager to begin increasing their happiness, as a bonus for visiting, we have included instructions below for making a "ME"board. Feel free to print out these and give them to your child, it's a great project!
ME Board
You are a very special person, with unique talents and wonderful things to be proud of!
This is a fun craft that will help you see how special you are, and remind you of all the good things about yourself every day.
You might need help from an adult for this project. You will also need poster board, scissors, glue, old magazines, and pictures of yourself.
Take some time and think about all the things you are good at and write them down. Are you a great soccer player? Can you make people laugh? Are you a good friend?
Next think about all the things you are that you are thankful for. It could be your family, your friends, your pet, anything that you are happy that you have in your life. Make a list of these as well.
Get a big pile of magazines and go through them to look for and cut out pictures that reflect what you put on your list. If you have pictures of yourself doing the things you are good at, or things you are thankful for, ask if you can use those too. If you can’t find pictures you are looking for, go ahead and draw them instead! You could also choose words instead of pictures if they are easier to find.
You will need a large poster board for the next part, and probably the help of an adult to draw it and cut it out with you. We chose to do a poster in the shape of the word ME, but you can also use a plain rectangle one, or a cork board. It’s up to you!
Once you have the shape you are using ready, start arranging the pictures on it. You might want to put all the things you are good at on one side, and all the things you are thankful for on the other, or you can mix them all together.
When the pictures are all arranged the way you want, start gluing them all in place, then let it dry.
Once your ME board is dry, take it and hang it up on your wall. The best spot to put it is somewhere that you see first thing every morning, and last thing before you go to sleep.
Now whenever you look at it you will be able to see all the good things about yourself, and all the things you have in your life that you can be thankful for. When you are having a down day and not feeling very happy, look at your board and think of these things.
We further believe all kids have the ability to Make a Difference in the world. You have the power to achieve the unattainable, and change things for the better.
